Did you miss my earlier post about my 14 Trails of Summer challenge? If so, pop on over and give it a read!

Week Two: Mt. Aeneas

Technically, I have done this trail once before; last summer, our first outing to Mt. Aeneas, when we discovered this amazing trail with incredible views into the Flathead Valley and back into the Jewel Basin.

This was this summer’s first effort. I was cut off by a whole assortment of mountain goats en route, and stymied from reaching the summit by residual snow. But still — these views!

This is definitely a trail I recommend to anyone who hasn’t done much trail exploring and is looking for something accessible, challenging (but not technical or too intense), and rewarding.

While the Mt. Aeneas summit may be trail #2 of my #14TrailsofSummer, I’m pretty confident it won’t be my only time hiking this trail this year!

What trails have you found lately? I’m always eager for recommendations, either close to home or far away! You never know when I might be passing through your town and looking for some good dirt.
